My Picks of the Best Rooftop Bars Near London Bridge

London Bridge Rooftop Bar

A group of people are sitting on a rooftop in london.

Literally the name says it all. This is a cocktail bar and terrace for an unobstructed and panoramic view of the London eye and the London skyline including the Shard. This bar is located right at the Colechurch house so it just a stone’s throw away from the London bridge station. However, the good views of the city and it’s relaxing vibe aren’t the only things that make this bar so special. It’s got daily DJs and events for booking that fully take advantage of their outdoor space. We found that this joint is perfect to stay till late catch-ups opposite the shard.

This year we’re looking forward to take part in their magical Christmas Rooftop experience this winter (They have heaters so don’t worry!). Aside from a changing drinks menu, this winter we’re looking to take up their offer of 90 minutes of bottomless drinks because their house cocktails and prosecco are local favourites!

Just a couple of tips though; First, it can get pretty crowded on the afternoon so you might want to keep that in mind if you’re planning for afternoon pints. Secondly, you might be feeling a bit full after a trip to the nearby borough market, but don’t miss out on their chicken tenders and brunch burgers! Lastly, since there’s lots of drinks to choose from, I recommend to start the evening off with their sunset cocktails or fizz.

Gong

I had to include Gong for those who are looking for a more decadent high-end cocktail experience, located in the Shard in London Bridge. What’s cool about this place is that the seats are divided into chambers so you could get a slice of your own private bar and terrace and almost every table has their own city views. Though not exactly 360° of the city, we were able to see as far as St. Paul’s Cathedral because of how high up we were.

The drinks at Gong are expertly crafted and delicious. I tried a few of their cocktails and was impressed with the unique flavors and premium spirits used. The cocktail menu comprises unique creations from head bartender Christian Maspes, who is a certified sake sommelier. The elegant and serene vibe make it perfect for to enjoy post-work drinks or enjoy a few drinks with a loved one.

12th Knot

A view of london at night from a rooftop bar.

Best thing about 12th knot is on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, they offer an outdoor rooftop experience with DJs, and best of all, they have a top-of-the-range sound system to make sure every guest could hear the music booming! In order to ensure that ingredients are hand-picked when they taste their best, the bar’s cocktail menu changes seasonally in celebration of seasonal ingredients.

You could dance till you get tired with a drink in hand and with a gorgeous view of the River Thames perfect for after-work unwinding! Not really a fan of bars with a strict dress code but fortunately this one isn’t too strict, with just a smart casual requirement. They also have amazing food with big portions so leaving your flip-flops behind for happy hour at 12th knot is absolutely worth it!

Sky Pod Bar

A view of the skyline from a restaurant in the skyscraper.

Now, this isn’t exactly located near the the London Bridge, but it’s just a short London Bridge walk away! Definitely a must for anyone who wants a relaxing rooftop experience without worrying about rain or cold. The gorgeous views of London is basically a given, since this is about Rooftop bars, but what sets this one apart from the other boozy rooftop terraces out there is that this is fully covered bar with beautiful views inside and out because of their smart usage of plants to decorate the interior.

It’s also a perfect spot for basically everyone as they have everything from soft drinks, coffee, high-grade tea, and cocktails, no wonder they have absolutely soaring customer reviews. They’re also available for hire which coincidentally was how we stumbled onto this place, as we were looking for some hire space that allowed us to host an event that’ll entertain clients while also giving them a great experience. They also offer a choice of breakfast bites, sandwiches, and more so don’t miss out!

Savage Garden Rooftop Bar

A bar with a view of the city at dusk.

Just between the Tower of London and London Bridge is Savage Garden Rooftop Bar, a large cocktail lounge that offer brunch that make it a must-visit. Last time we went here we just had to take a rooftop table and of course, take part in their bottomless brunch. We ordered their brunch burger, and I’ve got to say those were top-notch burgers that made the trip from the bridge so worth it and easily one of the top 5 burgers I’ve had in the city – The halloumi fries and our bottomless aperol spritz somehow complimented the burger perfectly and we can’t wait to go back next weekend!
