My Picks of the Best Restaurants in Baker Street

Hoppers Marylebone

Located right in the heart of Marylebone we discovered one of the finest Sri Lankan restaurants in the area. I’d probably say that from the taste alone, it’s one of my personal favourite Sri Lankan restaurants. We decided to try this spot out for our anniversary dinner because they had glowing reviews, and we were not disappointed!

Their use of fresh and seasonal ingredients is actually quite obvious considering how tasty and fragrant their curries were, from their seafood to the extremely delectable bone marrow curry. Delicious food isn’t the only thing that makes this place so special, their staff are also super quick and welcoming!

Chicken Shop

Situated right outside the iconic Sherlock Holmes museum is a simple Baker Street restaurant that serves the classic Chicken refined to be packed with flavour! It’s a casual joint and not  exactly super grand but it feeds hungry mouths and doesn’t break the bank so I call that a win!

They serve delicious dishes like their impressive chicken burgers and gunpowder fries. Obviously, chicken is the highlight here so although their burger is top-notch, I really recommend the wings and the fried chicken they offer!

Just like the last one, I guess it’s pretty obvious from the name itself as to what they actually serve for lunch and dinner, and that’s sushi! Actually, I kind of appreciate how local restaurants near Baker Street make it quick for me to decide what kind of food I want.

Although their cosy interior would make it perfect to just relax and unwind and dine in, I highly recommend taking some of their Japanese cuisine to-go! It’s quick, fresh, and absolutely delicious! When we were working around the corner, this quickly became one of our favourite delivery joint and even when we moved away, we still sometimes crave it!

Kitchen at Holmes

Just a quick walk away from Baker Street Tube Station, you’ll find an elegant Mediterranean restaurant complete with a beautiful terrace. We booked a table as a celebration for our anniversary; a visually-appealing place to eat with black chairs and marble countertops, expertly made glasses of cocktails, and tasty desserts all make for a romantic dinner for two!

We both had the lamb which was absolutely stellar! Don’t worry though, they have a bunch of vegan options so there is absolutely something for everyone here,

Mielo Restaurant

Here on a Thursday, we had a really nice early dinner. We were a reasonably large group, so we felt very well taken care of. The drinks were excellent, as were the starters and main courses. We had an excellent experience, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and the staff was very accommodating and friendly.

Because of how close it is to the Holmes Hotel and London’s Madame Tussauds, I suggest booking a table here in advance because it could get a little bit crowded. We’ve had instances where we had to wait for a table since we didn’t book ahead but let me tell you, the wait is absolutely worth it!

Pelican State Baker Street

The ambience and service are excellent. It’s very convenient to order using a QR code. Location is also excellent. The Cajun boil that we had was really delicious, but it was hard to extract the meat from the crab, not their fault by any means, in hindsight I was just probably way too hungry to actually focus on taking out the meat.

I found this spot while checking Instagram and we were not disappointed! Whenever we crave seafood there’s a chance you could find us in this joint!

📍195 Baker St, London NW1 6UY, United Kingdom

ShakeShuka

It was a cozy Palestinian restaurant with Middle Eastern cuisine. Everything was made from scratch. The chefs are working on the skewers and bread/flatbread right in front of you. I really enjoyed the zatar flatbread, salad, and kubideh flavors.  Turkish coffee and knafeh were also excellent. The staff was hospitable and friendly. I’ve been here a few times and will most certainly return.

The waitress greeted me and sat me at a small table even though they were busy. There were menus on the wall as well as available. Reminds me of a contemporary diner that you could find in certain scenes from movies, so it’s so welcoming, unfussy and cozy.

📍Marylebone Rd, London NW1 5PH, United Kingdom

Bill’s

The food was delicious and this place is adorable! They have a fantastic selection for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Although they were denser than American style, the pancakes were still very good. The breakfast in the garden was fantastic. Delicious flavors and an abundance of food!

We’re not exactly sure as to what their British brunch options are since they have an extensive menu of creative and tasty dishes, but since we are definitely coming back we’re hoping to try those out. Best thing is that they they’re located in the heart of central Marylebone so it’s convenient for a tasty and quick bite to eat.
