Just a short walk from Putney Bridge is one of the finest bookshops in Central London. Just walking around I’m sure this shop would eventually catch your eye as from the outside you’ll see piles and piles of books being stacked together with almost no space in between, so you can bet that you’ll find any book you’re looking for here.

Everything from sheets of music and comedy joke books, to antique college books and lectures, this spot has just about any genre you could think of. I didn’t expect that browsing a bookstore would be lots of fun and as a bonus if you walk west, you’ll find yourself in Fulham Palace.

📍Ranelagh Gardens, 91 Fulham High St, London SW6 3JS, United Kingdom

Fulham Palace

A brick building with a fountain.

A popular local attraction as it was the palace home from AD 704 to 1973 of the bishops of London. With literally hundreds of years of history tied to it There are a bunch of exhibits and pieces of interests in this building and a gorgeous painstakingly restored Tudor courtyard.

Aside from the fact that the bishops called the palace home, the site features a museum, historic rooms, café, and its botanic garden is open daily. Best part is that for anyone planning a trip to London, the palace is free to visit so you don’t have to worry if it’ll interfere with your budget and the nearby Bishops Park is definitely a must-visit!

Oxford V Cambridge Boat Race

A group of rowers rowing under a bridge in london.

An annual rowing competition between the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge is known as the Boat Race. Held for more than 180 years, this historic occasion serves as a symbol of the long-standing rivalry between the two universities. The race is held on the renowned Championship Course along the River Thames in London, a distance of 4.25 miles.

Eight-oared rowing boats are used for competition between the men’s and women’s teams from both universities; the men’s race dates back to 1829, while the women’s race dates back to 1927. Putt in the Park

A miniature golf course in a garden.

One of the more fun things to do after a relaxing walk along the river is heading out to this miniature golf course! Aside from the gorgeous green space you can see that stretches out along the Thames. I had the most amazing time at Putt in the Park in Wandsworth Park, which I recently visited!

This is a fantastic location to spend time in the sun and having a great time with loved ones. All ages and skill levels can enjoy the mini golf course because it has a great variety of holes, some of which are quite difficult. It might be a bit damaging to your pride to see you’re 10-year old niece ace a hole-in-one while your golf ball keeps bouncing off the walls.

So we end this Putney Area guide with something I recommend visitors to the area should definitely visit! One of Putney’s most charming qualities is that their bars and pubs not only give you a chill spot to have a few drinks, but they also have tasty and savoury food available, and no ultimate guide to Putney should be complete without the mention of Putney Pies.

Every time I visit the area I always pick up a pie to take home or enjoy from their large selection of beers before heading out again. I had the tender and delicious beef borg. My companion ordered the steak and ale pie, which was stuffed with sizzling brisket-style beef. Every dish is served piping hot and immaculate.
