A group of people standing in a park.

Five Super Affordable Restaurants to Try Out!

Serpentine Bar & Kitchen

A group of people sitting at a restaurant near a pond.

Roughly a minute walk from the speakers’ corner is a beautiful lakefront restaurant. Though it is roughly self-service making it a bit different from the other London restaurants near Hyde Park, but I would argue that that is what makes it so charming, since you could go at it at your own pace.

Since the restaurant is located in front of the lake, it’s the perfect place to just relax and bask in the fresh air and the birds chirping.

After a day of walking along the huge park, we got the hankering for some quality afternoon tea. Fortunately, just a stone’s throw from Hyde Park, we stumbled upon Lanes of London. I cannot overstate how lucky we were that we actually secured a last minute booking, because this restaurant was the absolute perfect spot for tea.

As a bonus to their amazing tea selection, they also have different breakfast and lunch options. Sandwiches were fresh and inventive. Remember to buy dessert because their sweets are simply must-haves.

Osteria Romana

A restaurant with wooden tables and chairs.

This is a Roman themed Italian restaurant and they make it a point you get a whiff of the fresh Italian food cooking. I wasn’t even thinking of ordering food, just a few drinks but walking in to Osteria Romana, I instantly asked for recommendations. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe with truffle and it was full of flavour and quite honestly the best lunch I’ve had in months.

My partner had the Gnocco Alla Romana and she was generous enough to give me half of it when she couldn’t finish it, and suffice to say, I ordered another one!

Pierrino

The outside of a restaurant with tables and chairs.

Last one was a little bit too expensive so let’s get on with a rather simple but high-quality entry, and that is Pierrino. Though this spot is located a bit further compared to other restaurants near Hyde Park, London. It still is very much worth the visit.

Pierrino excels in quick takeaway however, they’re outdoor seating options still draws people in. I would say their lasagna is the highlight of the show, I could seriously eat 5 of those, and when I mentioned it to the owner, the dude gave us 2 more! Overall, a great and cozy restaurant with super reasonable prices.

El Pirata of Mayfair

Next up we have the best joint for a bottomless brunch, the El Pirata of Mayfair. Aside from the authentic Spanish food, they also have a bunch of veggie or vegan options available so my friends and I had an absolutely grand time. What better way to end your walk from Hyde Park than feasting on good meatballs and tapas, while being constantly topped off with sangria?

Just a heads up, they would soon be launching their Christmas menu, I know, the owners themselves say its a bit weird to be talking about Christmas in October – anyway, as someone who loves Spanish cuisine, you are in for a treat at what they can cook up during the holidays especially their la carte menu. Remember to bring friends because those portion sizes for their paellas are no joke!

Another Five Restaurants That Might Hurt Your Pockets

The Lanesborough Grill

Now if you’d like to eat near Hyde Park Corner after a whole day of exploring the city. I would suggest this amazing spot. This hotel has an absolutely beautiful and elegant interior, and the food is just divine! It was the first time I ordered the beef wellington, and the flavours were absolutely intense, way different than the fish and chips I’m used to.

The waiter asked if we would like some wine to go along with the food and then handed us a book of wines available. I gave up and just asked him and he happily recommended one. Though this spot might require some planning since it’s not exactly budget-friendly but remember this is a 5-star hotel who has earned a Michelin star, so the prices and service are well worth it!

The Restaurant at The Capital

Might just be me but I consider this one of the best places to eat prawn spaghetti and seafood pasta. The sauce and the perfectly cooked meat gave us a sort of infatuation towards the place. Though, I’m not exactly a fan of hotel restaurants, this is one of the many exemptions I have!

We started off with a glass of wine at first, planning to just chill and catch up and then somehow it turned into an amazing early dinner! The atmosphere and bright lights made us stay just a little bit longer.

📍22-24 Basil St, London SW3 1AT, United Kingdom

Galvin at Windows

A restaurant with large windows overlooking a city.

Hyde Park is beautiful and we all know that. But what if you get to have a 360 degree view around Hyde Park from the 28th floor? Just a short walk near Hyde Park Corner station you’d find the Hilton on Park Lane and inside is one of the best views around Central London, a restaurant called Galvin at the Windows.

Stunning views alone won’t get you a Michelin Star though, and you’d be amazed at how tasty their tasting menu is. It’s 7 courses of innovative and perfectly cooked food under a high-class atmosphere. It is expensive though but if you have the cash, this is certainly one for the bucket list.

Great For: Close Friends, Catching up, Couples

📍22 Park Ln, London W1K 1BE, United Kingdom

Marcus Belgravia

A dining room with a long table and chairs.

I’ve only ever been here once because, even though I’m a food blogger, I don’t make nearly enough money to keep coming back to Michelin-starred fine dining restaurants. The only experience I’ve had though has been amazing. Everything from the dimly lit posh interior, to the expertly made French dishes made with British ingredients, everything was just miles ahead of other restaurants!

I’d suggest the 7 course tasting menu for the ultimate experience. Wine pairings are also recommended by the staff so it perfectly complements the food. Lastly, even the location itself was practically chosen to make it easier for customers as it’s super close to the Hyde Park Corner Tube Station!

Great For: Couples, Close Friends

📍The Berkeley, Wilton Pl, London SW1X 7RL, United Kingdom

Zuma London

A dining room with a wooden table and red chairs.

Ending this article off with, in my opinion, the best one. Zuma London is a modern Japanese restaurant but with the traditional robata grill and sushi counter. First time I tried their sushi, I was absolutely blown away, so I tried their tempura, and then their skewers, and the next thing I knew, I was booking a table for next week.

If you want to tread yourself to some premium Japanese food then this will hit the spot. They have “premium” tasting menu that I recommend everyone should try at least once and the staff are super attentive – I made a booking online and said it was a friend’s birthday and they still remembered and brought out a cake! Truly some next level stuff.
