My Picks of the Best Brunch in Hackney

215 Hackney

A restaurant with a lot of books on the wall.

215 quickly became one of our favourite brunch spots in East London. The whole interior is cozy with lots of books on the shelves. It’s a relaxing eatery to just hangout in on high street and enjoy their savoury Middle-Eastern cuisine like shakshuka and other casual brunch food.

The french toast had a strange but effective flavor combination of Nutella and berry compote with a hint of beetroot. Damascus was an intriguing place. Really liked the hummus and the merguez sausage. Also don’t sleep on their coffee!

It isn’t your typical restaurant because it’s right on a boat! We were given free Prosecco by the staff, which was very pleasant. There is a good assortment of appetizers, small plates, and main courses; all were expertly prepared and tasted fantastic. Additionally, there was a sizable drink menu! Overall, it was a really pleasant atmosphere, and it’s the perfect spot in the summer!

Their brunch includes a specialized pre-theatre menu so you could have very filling Sunday roast or buttermilk pancakes before heading down to the theatre spots in London. If you don’t have any theatre plans, it’s still a serene spot to just start your day.

📍River Lee, Sweetwater Mooring, White Post Ln, London E9 5EN, United Kingdom

Martello Hall

A restaurant with a pizza oven in the middle of the room.

As I looked around this hip and rustic venue, Martello Hall had everything I could possibly want. They’ve got a fantastic little bar with amazing gins and inventive cocktails,  a back area where you can watch the chefs work, an adorable, cozy space upstairs that can be reserved for events; and an adorable little terrace outside!

Finally, we got to meet some of the most charming and welcoming staff members, which truly brightened our day! They have great craft beers that goes along with their pizzas and smashed avo on toast.

📍Martello Hall, 137 Mare St, London E8 3RH, United Kingdom

Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is well-known as one of the best brunch spots in the city. I mean it the word “Breakfast” is already in the name. They have a lot of branches throughout London but their spot in Hackney is home to something special, it’s home to an exclusive and serene view of the Regent’s canal!

What better way to start your morning than brunching in Hackney with generous portions of buttermilk chicken and waffles all while enjoying some hot chocolate with a great view. They also have other brunch options including the classic Full English Breakfast with poached eggs or fried eggs.

📍Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Canalside, 29 E Bay Ln, London E9 5NY, United Kingdom

Market Café

A red double decker bus.

Market Cafe right on Broadway Market street is a great brunch spot in Hackney. Though it isn’t your typical weekend brunch menu as they have a lot of evening meals available. It might get a bit full since it’s a particularly famous Hackney Brunch Spot,

They serve fresh comfort food like hash and loaded fries. It’s also a quirky bar with mismatched vintage furnishing, some posters from the 70s and a lot of good local beers to choose from. It’s hearty, chill, and best of all, delicious!

📍2 Broadway Market, London E8 4QJ, United Kingdom

Earth Kitchen

The interior of a restaurant with tables and chairs.

Another cosy spot right on Dalston! It’s a hub for East Londoners to just work or study so expect that it’s a super chill place. If you find yourself in Hackney, this is a great spot for hangouts with friends; it’s large and bright. Excellent brunch menu featuring reasonable portion sizes and vegetarian fare. I only wish the desserts were offered on the weekends along with their brunch menu!

They also have great music playing through their large speakers all-day. Best of all, it’s all reasonably priced so anyone looking for the best brunch that won’t break the bank then the Earth Kitchen is a premier spot!

📍13 Stoke Newington Rd, London N16 8BH, United Kingdom

Stone Cave

Good Mediterranean cuisine! The interior design, which has a cave-like feel, is really well done, and the lighting is really nice. The food arrived promptly and was really tasty. For a couple to share, the hot and cold starters for two along with a few other nibbles were ideal. There is meat, veggie, and vegan options available, so everyone is covered!

They’ve also perfected their Turkish cuisine such as their traditional Turkish menemem eggs, their meze, and moussaka (which by the way was very tasty!) Dessert enthusiasts should definitely try deep-fried ice cream—it’s warm and crispy on the outside and frozen in the middle!
