My Picks for the Best Pizza Joints

L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele

The restaurant has a large and spacious basement with three rooms, each with a different style that merges traditional furniture with a modern touch of elegance. The ground floor upstairs holds the 2,300kg pizza oven in the open kitchen, at 500°C, and the history of Da Michele. Every wall is decorated as a painting to watch with attention! There are stories, tales, poems, paintings… just like a guided tour in the story of Michele and the Neapolitan Pizza.

The secret of Da Michele’s enduring success is in the use of natural ingredients, and of an old, traditional, time-tested method of leavening pizza dough. Aside from the wide variety of toppings to choose from, you also get to choose from a list of cocktails options that are sure to amaze you! It’s also worth noting that this restaurant doesn’t accept any reservations and are strictly walk-ins only.

Great For: Groups of Friends, Close Friends

Homeslice Marylebone

A restaurant with tables and chairs on a street in london.

This spot fortunately accepts reservations on their site, which you’re gonna want to book because looking at their staff through the open kitchen, roll and serve up pizza is going to make you wish you had a reservation so you could dine in immediately! Homeslice began life in 2011 with a hand-built mobile wood-fired oven. They started at London Fields Brewery and sold out within hours.

Since this spot has a bunch of vegan and vegetarian options on their menu, my friends and I have made this a regular meet-up spot since 2018 since they can accommodate all of our group preferences. The pizza tastes delicious and the best part is its affordable, making it one of Marylebone’s best pizza restaurants!

Franco Manca Baker Street

Franco Manca has a bunch of locations scattered throughout London, and its kinda easy to see why. They are fairly strict with where they collect ingredients that it has to be sourced from local farmers to that they are freshly handled, and their dough is handmade on-site which makes this place so special.

We’ve only been to this branch on Baker Street and the fast service, reasonable prices, and amazing tiramisu dessert, made me curious how the other branches are doing so I read up on a few user reviews. Suffice to say, we are certainly going to visit all the other spots of Franco Manca!

Great For: Couples, Close Friends

📍91 Baker St, London W1U 6QQ, United Kingdom

Pizzeria Mozza

A restaurant with wooden tables and chairs.

A focus on locally sourced, premium, seasonal bounty is at the heart of Pizzeria Mozza, the first UK restaurant from internationally recognised Chef Nancy Silverton. Pizzeria Mozza was first established in Los Angeles, an expression of Nancy Silverton’s unique aesthetic and approach to cooking: focused but not fussy, straightforward and always uncompromising.

I started with the burrata and prosciutto, which was a larger portion than I expected and very tasty. For the main course, I ordered the margherita pizza, which had a crisp thin crust and tasty toppings. Of course, the cheese-stretch of the mozzarella is definitely worthy for any Instagram post.

Il Blandford`s

A restaurant in london with green awnings.

Il Blandford’s is a family-owned Italian restaurant that has been serving the Marylebone community for over 50 years. Jessica, the current owner, is passionate about using fresh, local ingredients to create authentic Italian dishes. The restaurant’s menu features a variety of classic Italian dishes, including pasta, pizza, and risotto. Il Blandford’s is a popular spot for both locals and tourists alike, and is known for its cozy atmosphere and friendly service.

It’s also cool that Jessica didn’t drop the cafe’s former name as she says she doesn’t want to lose that connection to the past. While the food draws customers in, the exuberant atmosphere brings the restaurant to life. Expect a warm Italian welcome. Il Blandford’s has cemented itself as a local favorite, with guests and friends at the heart of the restaurant, which has thrived on loyal customers and personal recommendations.

This restaurant is committed to creating more sustainable pizzerias of the future, hosting customers in a responsible and eco-friendly way. Pizza Pilgrims offers halal options, including certified halal pepperoni made from turkey and beef.

While the pizzas are prepared in the same kitchen as non-halal products, the restaurant takes cross-contamination seriously and has a strict policy of hand washing and using different utensils to separate the products, which I think is worth highlighting. Their commitment to a sustainable business and respect for dietary choices, make it a top spot to consider whenever you crave good pizza in Marylebone.

Pizza Express

A group of people sitting outside a pizza express restaurant.

Pizza Express is a super popular chain you could find in not just London, but all throughout the world. That’s super impressive and if nothing else, highlights their consistently amazing pizzas. The restaurant also offers seasonal menus, such as a Christmas menu with festive alternatives.

Since me and my partner try to save up on money whenever we eat out, It’s good  to know that this restaurant also offers a loyalty program called the PizzaExpress club, which saved our wallets more times than we can count, so don’t forget to sign up!

Great For: Groups of Friends

📍21-22 Barrett St, St Christopher’s Pl, London W1U 1BF, United Kingdom

Anacapri

A restaurant with tables and chairs outside at night.

Anacapri is a great option for anyone looking for delicious Italian food in a cozy and authentic atmosphere. The restaurant’s menu offers a variety of dishes to choose from, including pasta, pizza, and seafood, as well as desserts and a selection of wines.

While the restaurant isn’t known for being modern or upscale, it’s real charm is that it gives this off this homey vibe. The space and outdoor seating have this casual and light sense that draws in a lot of the locals. I cannot recommend this place enough as the perfect spot to enjoy a simple lunch with a couple of friends over sourdough pizza and Italian wine.

Great For: Groups of Friends, Couples, Solo

📍10 Dorset St, London W1U 6QR, United Kingdom

La Brasseria Milanese

A group of people sitting outside of a restaurant.

The sultry marble interiors, glossy, panelled walls, and Italian maître d’s make you feel like you’re in Naples or in Milan. The menu offers a variety of Italian dishes, including pizza, pasta, seafood, and desserts. We were all extremely pleased with their eggplant and goat cheese pizza which was a strange concept to begin with but they absolutely delivered.

The alfresco tables on Marylebone High Street make for a great spot for outdoor dining but unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to try them out because of the weather.
