Our Picks of the Best Chinese in London!

Crystal China

We started with the vegetable spring rolls – crispy and packed full of flavor. For mains, we ordered the Szechuan beef, kung pao chicken, and shrimp fried rice. The beef was tender and coated in a tongue-tingling spicy sauce. The kung pao chicken was a wonderful blend of sweet and spicy. The shrimp fried rice was my favorite – plump, juicy shrimp with fluffy rice and veggies.

In addition to the excellent food, the service was attentive without being overbearing. The staff were happy to make recommendations and answer any questions, I went here with a couple of friends from work who had a ton of questions about their menu, and they even took the time to explain things from what they offer and how it goes with certain drinks!

Ting

Ting is the Shard’s highest restaurant, offering absolutely breathtaking panoramic views of the London skyline through floor-to-ceiling windows. My friend and I were seated right next to the windows, the perfect vantage point to take in sights like Tower Bridge, the River Thames, and the city lights twinkling below us.

I highly recommend Ting for a special occasion or to impress out-of-town guests. The views are unparalleled and the food provides a unique take on Chinese cuisine that keeps diners coming back. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in London!

BaoziInn – London Bridge

A view of a restaurant through a window.

Last night I had the pleasure of dining at BaoziInn’s new location in London Bridge. As a Chinese food lover living in London, I had heard great things about BaoziInn’s authentic regional Chinese cuisine and was eager to try it for myself.

We started our meal with an order of the Steamed Dumplings – the pork ones had deliciously juicy meat filling encased in a thick and chewy wheat wrapper. The prawn and chive dumplings were equally good, with a nice hit of garlic. Next time I’ll have to come back to try more of their signature Chengdu-style dumplings and Sichuan dishes.

Great For: Close Friends, Catching up

Thames Take Away

I visited Thames Take Away Chinese last night for a quick solo dinner on my way home from work. This little Chinese takeaway is tucked away on Tanner Street near London Bridge station. I stopped by around 7:30pm on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was fairly quiet with just a couple other customers waiting for their food.

The decor is modest with just a few tables along the wall for dining in. I opted to get my food to go. The sweet and sour chicken was excellent. The batter was light and crispy, not too greasy. The sauce had just the right balance of sweet and tangy flavors. What’s super impressive about this place was everything I ordered was ready in around 10 mins!

Hutong

The décor of Hutong transports you to old Beijing with intricate hand-carved wooden lattice screens, glowing red lanterns, and silk curtains separating the bar and dining areas. It’s an elegant and intimate setting, made even more impressive by the jaw-dropping views of the London skyline through the floor-to-ceiling windows. While the prices are steep, the entire experience reflects the quality you would expect from a Michelin-starred restaurant.

The highlight was the slow-roasted Peking duck, served with traditional condiments and handmade pancakes. The crispy duck skin shattered on first bite, giving way to tender, flavorful meat underneath. All of it was expertly carved and prepared tableside, our mouths were basically watering at that point!

Great For: Couples, Business Meetings

Hing Loong

Tucked away on bustling Tower Bridge Road, Hing Loong is an unassuming Chinese takeaway. he prices are very reasonable, especially given the generous portions. While the decor is no-frills, the focus is entirely on fresh, mouthwatering food.

This established oriental Chinese restaurant offer quick and easy Chinese dishes with no need to make reservations! This is a personal favourite of mine whenever I’m running late or when me and my partner get lazy and can’t be bothered to get up from the couch.

Hing Lee

A chinese restaurant on the corner of a street.

I started with their hot and sour soup – a tangy, warming broth filled with tofu, bamboo shoots and egg. For my main dish, I went with the roast duck, beautifully lacquered with crispy, burnished skin.

The tender meat was flavored perfectly and served alongside a heaping mound of rice and stir-fried veggies. While the decor is humble, the focus is on fresh, mouthwatering food at prices that won’t break the bank!

Great For: Groups of Friends, Family

📍32 Curlew St, London SE1 2PP, United Kingdom

Cheung Wah

Aside from the absolutely superb service you could get when ordering to-go, I discovered that this place is actually open late in the night, for pub-crawlers such as myself, this has been such a blessing! . It’s also worth noting that the restaurant is conveniently located near the London Bridge metro station, making it easily accessible for both locals and tourists.

Whether you’re out and about, ready to explore London Bridge during the day or when you’re looking for a restaurant in London serving food late in the night, Cheung Wah is a super convenient choice!
