My Picks for the Best Bars in Mayfair

Comptoir Wine and Cafe

One of our favourite bars and the best spots to grab a few drinks in Mayfair would be this little wine bar just off to the side of the Marriot May fair hotel and Grosvenor Square. It’s a little small so I highly recommend you call ahead and actually secure a reservation.

Not only do they have some amazing French wine options, it’s also nice to see that this chic cafe has so many amazing British food options. Plus, if you’re lucky to secure a few seats on their outdoor terrace, you’ll be treated to a cosy and quiet atmosphere to enjoy a glass straight out of their wine cellars.

📍21-22 Weighhouse St, London W1K 5LU, United Kingdom

Mr. Fogg’s Residence

A group of people are sitting in a room with a lot of decorations.

The whimsical atmosphere of Mr. Fogg’s is one of the reasons I like to visit there. It is crammed with antiques and mementos from the Victorian adventurer. If the mouth-watering cocktails aren’t enough to tempt you, the restaurant’s décor—which includes a stuffed parrot and a hot air balloon—will.

It’s no wonder that a lot of locals consider this as one of London’s best drinking dens. They have theatrical and experimental cocktails served with a LOT of flair, which goes along with the quirky art deco of the entire cocktail bar.

The Connaught Bar

The interior of a restaurant with chairs and tables.

Designed by David Collins Studios, the Connaught bar is a gorgeously decorated hotel bar and is not only the best cocktail spot in West London but literally across the capital. It’s been consistently ranked in the list of the recommended world’s 50 best bars judged by 500 experts, and it’s not surprising really.

The bar also serves a selection of bottled cocktails and served with only the best quality ingredients by expert mixologists, such as the well-known Negroni made with the establishment’s house-distilled Connaught Bar Gin and the classic Martini for two, both of which are infused with bergamot oils.

Dickie’s Bar at Corrigan’s

With elements of polished wood, velvet, leather, blue and white marble, and silver, the bar is reminiscent of a hunting lodge, exuding a cozy and welcoming vibe. This is such a hidden gem of a restaurant in Mayfair, you’d think that a bar should specialize in drinks but Dickie’s earned its spot as one of the top bars and pubs in the area because of its food!

Shoutout to their scotch eggs and mushroom beignets, they were especially delicious. All the ingredients for their bar snacks and meals are sourced directly from the ownerd’s farm so if you’re looking for a great place to unwind with fresh food to go along with a cocktail or two then this is a must-visit!

📍28 Upper Grosvenor St, London W1K 7EH, United Kingdom

Le Magritte

A bar in the lobby of a hotel.

Some of the swankiest bars I’ve ever been are most likely in Mayfair hotels. And one such Mayfair cocktail bar particularly stands out. Le Magritte is one of the most sophisticated looking London bar I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. From their blend of red and wood to their 1920’s celebritiy photos, everything about this place just oozes elegance.

Staff are just top notch and are more than happy to help you navigate through their list of the recommended best drinks and snacks, and even cigars! I have to admit it was a little too posh for my tastes when I first went in, but after a while of getting cozy with a tipple in one hand and a cigar in the other, the atmosphere morphed into something like having a drink at a friend’s place.

📍The Beaumont, 8 Balderton St, Brown Hart Gardens, London W1K 6TF, United Kingdom

Luggage Room

A hallway with a staircase leading to a room.

Speaking of hotel bars based on Mayfair. The Luggage room is another spot in this guide to the best bars in the area, or one of the best bars in the world in my opinion. It’s great that once I stepped in I thought I would be breaking the bank but that was not the case at all! Some of the drinks here are actually reasonably priced, considering how great it tasted.

I have been to this for maybe dozens of times now, and this bar is one of the very few spots in London that I actually recommend trying out alone or with a small group of friends because it’s a bar with a super relaxing atmosphere. Plus, their plush leather seating is comfortable and the entire interior makes you feel like you’re in one of those classic spy films.

📍Grosvenor Square, London W1K 6JP, United Kingdom

Claridge’s Bar

Looking to celebrate an occasion with a few cocktails in the city? Then head to this elusive cocktail bar! We absolutely didn’t expect we’d be finding the best spot to celebrate our anniversary in Mayfair! The bar offers a super luxurious vibe, everything from their interior design, their food, and of course, their drinks list.

They have a really well thought-out wine list—the Somellier team and others at Claridges obviously have this down to a science. It’s got rare champagne, high-end spirits, and high-quality gourmet food! It’s also considered as one of the world’s best so sometimes you might want to consider booking a table here weeks in advance!

📍Brook St, London W1K 4HR, United Kingdom

Donovan Bar

A bar with a lot of bottles on it.

Donovan Bar is a gorgeous bar with minimalistic wood panels with cool black and white portraits of British icons and celebrities from the swinging sixties.. I had the pleasure of going to Donovan’s Pub recently, and it was a very enjoyable experience. Their shepherd’s pie was delicious, rich, and reminiscent of home-cooked comfort food.

Excellent ambiance featuring chic, modern interiors and soothing, soft jazz music all around. The bar staff is extremely knowledgeable and amazing. A visit to London’s best kept secret is highly recommended!

📍33 Albemarle St, London W1S 4BP, United Kingdom

Below

A bar with a lot of bottles.

Below is a bar that I’m surprised not a lot of people talk about. That all changes though when I had the chance to visit this place since I wouldn’t stop recommended it to my friends!

First of all, it’s a stone’s throw away from the station and the reason that’s important is because although, the neighborhood has super high-quality bars, Mayfair has long stretches of road with no drinking dens, so anyone on a pub-crawl would probably want a bar that’s close to the station so they could start early.

Which is exactly what we did! They have delicious cocktails and top-notch service that we eventually just had to give up on our pub-crawl and instead started and ended the night in Below. The dim lights and the long list of drinks to try out were all we wanted out of a bar so we found ourselves coming back for more!
