My Picks of the Best Pubs and Bars in Greenwich

Trafalgar Tavern

The Tavern was established in 1837 and has a rich past. Previously, it was known as The Old George, a small inn that catered to local fishermen. Later on, in commemoration of Nelson’s victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, it was renamed the Trafalgar Tavern. Several famous people frequented the Tavern, including Charles Dickens, who used it as the location for the wedding breakfast in his last book, “Our Mutual Friend”.

This local pub is also a great place to dine at because the ground floor serves up a few imaginative dishes like scallops, foie gras terrine, and whitebait. While searching for a drink in the area it’s great that we also stumbled upon one of the best places for a bite!

📍Park Row, London SE10 9NW, United Kingdom

Oystercatcher

A restaurant with tables and chairs in front of a river.

Oystercatcher offers a classy, contemporary menu that includes seafood, dry-aged steaks, classic cocktails, and cool twists on old-fashioned pub classics. It’s one of the most relaxing places to drink and hangout at because you’ll find that this traditional pub has an enormous quayside terrace that allows customers to soak in the panoramic riverside views of the wharf.

Last time we were here. we also took part in their bottomless brunch and we were delighted that aside from the usual pub grub, we were treated to some amazing prosecco and classic brunch options like Sunday roasts and brunch burgers.

📍40 Bank St, London E14 5NR, United Kingdom

Enderby House

A building with a fence in front of it.

Enderby House, nestled in the heart of Greenwich, offers an immersive Georgian pub experience that elevates your casual pint. You’re guaranteed to find a great selection of drinks and a cozy ambiance at this historic pub. Quite frankly, an amazing pitstop if you’re strolling around the river on Enderby’s wharf.

I highly recommend trying out their fish and chips, a British classic perfected by the Enderby House that seems like they really use high-quality batter and fresh fish. They also have outdoor seating that is perfect for lounging around in.

📍23 Telegraph Ave, London SE10 0TH, United Kingdom

Sail Loft

A restaurant with a view of the river.

First thing I’d like to highlight about this place is their amazing service! The staff are clearly settled into their roles and it creates this amazing homely vibe, kinda like a neighborhood family-run restaurant, because of how attentive the staff are. The Gnocci that is currently available on the menu as well as a tequila sunrise cocktail are highly recommended, especially if you’ve got the opportunity to sit outside and watch as the sun sets.

If you’re looking for something that would make you a bit fuller, try out their Sunday roast! The food and drinks here are simply amazing and is a must-try among all the Greenwich bars.

📍11 Victoria Parade, London SE10 9FR, United Kingdom

Old Brewery

Right inside the Maritime Greenwich museum you’ll find the Old Brewery. Inside there’s a bunch of metal and containers that create an industrial vibe. Also, if its sunny then you could go outside and just relax and order from their outdoor bar, since the brewery is located in the heart of Greenwich’s streets, the atmosphere from the dozens of people bustling and talking make it such a great experience.

If that isn’t enough then you could sit down on the grass and enjoy a nice picnic with your family. Food is also delicious so don’t forget to order a few starters to help wash down the boozers!

📍The Pepys Building, The Old Royal Naval College, London SE10 9LW, United Kingdom

Davy’s Wine Vaults

A long table is set up in a room with a fireplace.

Davy’s Wine Vaults, positioned in the heart of Greenwich, offers an extensive wine selection and a cozy ambiance, making it a favorite spot for wine connoisseurs and casual enthusiasts alike. This intimate wine bar captures the essence of South London wine culture. This joint scores a lot of points from me for their cleanliness and overall comfort!

I’m not saying that the other pubs in Greenwich aren’t clean because they are, but this one is just exceptional, the wooden tables practically sparkle! For a wine bar with over 100 selection of wine, their prices are surprisingly reasonable, and we didn’t have to break the bank even though we ordered a dozen glasses of wine.

📍161 Greenwich High Rd, London SE10 8JA, United Kingdom

Cutty Sark

A building with a sign that says cutty sark.

For those seeking a quintessential British pub experience with a diverse ale offering, The Cutty Sark pub and restaurant is the go-to location. This classic pub, spread across three floors, offers a great selection of ales and a charming ambiance, making it a popular choice among locals.

We were super lucky we got the opportunity to sit at the top-floor and the view of the river is simply breathtaking. Standout dishes were their huge fish and chips, scotch egg and chocolate mousse, definitely a must-try!

📍4-6 Ballast Quay, London SE10 9PD, United Kingdom

Toca Social Bar

The interior of a club with colorful walls and chairs.

Possibly one of the best bars in the city to have fun with your friends! Just a short walk away from the O2 you get a bar that encourages their guests to be competitive and enjoy. I’m not exactly one of the most athletic people in the world but their interactive football experience brings out the more active side within me.

And to kick things up a notch, we even held our own tournament and made our own drinking game for the most goals scored! The energy and the vibe inside are high and if the ale and their football isn’t enough to impress you then order a plate of churros!

📍Peninsula Square, London SE10 0DX, United Kingdom

Meantime Brewery

A brewery with a lot of stainless steel tanks.

London-based Meantime Brewery is a brewery that brews a variety of craft beers. The brewery is renowned for its creative brewing methods, employing cutting-edge equipment and ingredients to produce distinctive and tasty beers. In the interim, the brewery provides tours of its spaces so that guests can experience the brewing process and try some of its brews.

Additionally, the brewery offers a taproom where guests can sip on their preferred beer and take in the industrial-chic vibe of the establishment while sipping a pint. It’s also great that their tour guides strike an amazing balance between humor and knowledge and are more than happy to help you with the experience or hand you a glass!
