Early Life and Challenges

Despite challenges, Maisie’s childhood was marked by her mother’s involvement with Leeds Beckett University and her role as the founder of the Louder Than Words Festival in Manchester. At just 14, Maisie confronted juvenile myoclonic epilepsy, a condition that didn’t deter her dreams.

St. Aidan’s Church of England High School in Harrogate witnessed her journey, where she even held the position of Head Girl. Following her studies with the National Youth Theatre in 2010 and 2012, she pursued acting at the East 15 Acting School in Southend on Sea, later earning a BA in Acting & Community Theatre in 2016.

From Acting to Comedy

Maisie embarked on her career with acting in mind, even clinching a Laurence Marks sitcom-writing mentorship in 2015. However, the acting world proved challenging. Temp jobs led her to stand-up comedy, with her debut at the Ilkley Literature Festival fringe in 2016. A winning performance at So You Think You’re Funny in 2017 set her on a new path, landing her an agent.

Her acclaimed solo show ‘Vague’ earned her a nomination for the Best Newcomer Award at the 2018 Edinburgh Comedy Awards, and the Amused Moose National New Comic Award in the same year. Maisie’s comedy journey continued with the show ‘Hang Fire,’ taking her across the UK and Europe on a tour in 2019/2020.

On Screen and Beyond

Maisie’s television journey began with a stint on The Chase in 2016. Her talent reached a wider audience with ITV2’s The Stand-Up Sketch Show in 2019. She became a regular on shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, QI, Have I Got News for You, and more. A memorable portrayal of punk singer Siouxsie Sioux in Urban Myths showcased her versatility.

Writing credits include Never Mind the Buzzcocks and episodes of Rob Beckett’s Savage Socials on Channel 4. In 2021, she narrated the reality show The Cabins on ITV2.

Her podcast ‘That’s a First!’ alongside comedian Tom Lucy became a hit since its inception in 2019. In 2023, she became the co-host of ‘Big Kick Energy’ alongside Suzi Ruffell, further solidifying her presence in the comedy world.

Achievements and Beyond

Maisie’s journey has been marked by accolades like the BBC New Comedy Award, Best Show Amused Moose, and Laughing Horse New Act of the Year. Her career continues to thrive, and she’s not just a comedian, but a compelling voice shaping the comedy landscape.
