Comedian Tim Dillon ignited a firestorm of controversy with his recent remarks on different generations, targeting Baby Boomers, millennials, and Gen Z. Speaking on Dragon’s Den star Steven Bartlett’s podcast, “The Diary of a CEO,” Dillon labelled Boomers as a “selfish generation” and millennials as “a sh** generation,” while suggesting Gen Z should be “drafted into wars” and “go die in Ukraine.”

Dillon’s Views on Baby Boomers

During his appearance on the podcast, Dillon didn’t hold back in his critique of Baby Boomers, branding them as “very sick people” who won’t leave their wealth.

They are very sick people, they refuse to give up their jobs, they are emotional terrorists and I grew up with them they are very interesting people. They have proven the lie of the ’60s, people thought they were progressive hippies, they were not, they were actually just selfish drug addicts. They just wanted to get high and roll around in the mud.

He accused them of emotionally manipulating their children and highlighted their perceived lack of concern for the future. Despite acknowledging their humour, he portrayed them as selfish and irresponsible.

He did say something you could say a little bit nice towards these boomers,

Funniest generation that ever lived (Baby boomers), nobody is funnier because to be funny you kind of have to not care, no one has cared less about the future of this planet or the future of their children about anything but the Boomers.

Hot Take on Millenials

Dillon didn’t spare millennials either, characterising them as a generation constantly seeking validation and recognition. He criticised their desire for praise and suggested they prioritise superficial accomplishments over substance.

Millennials are these kind of ambitious people that want to constantly be patted on the back” and “told how great they are.

Controversial Remarks on Gen Z

Turning his attention to Gen Z, Dillon offered a mixed assessment, acknowledging their self-starting attitude and scepticism towards institutions.

He described them as “self-starters very sceptical of institutions and cynical,” but also condemned aspects of their behaviour, stating: “their more negative qualities are the murder, filming murders and fentanyl vapes, we need a draft to be honest.”

Shockingly, he suggested that young people should join the military, implying that they would be better off dying in conflicts like the one in Ukraine.

Public Response

Not surprisingly, Dillon’s comments sparked outrage and condemnation from various quarters. Many criticised his sweeping generalisations and harsh judgments on entire generations.

While some argue, that it’s just another comedian making jokes about what he observes from the generations. But on social media, Tim Dillon managed to do the impossible, he was able to band together everyone from every generation, to comment on his edgy remarks.
