Renowned comedian Peter Kay’s eagerly anticipated gigs at Britain’s largest arena, Co-op Live, have been unexpectedly postponed with just a day’s notice. The venue cited unfinished preparations, particularly regarding the power supply, for the last-minute rescheduling.

Disappointment for Fans

Kay expressed his regret over the postponement, acknowledging the disappointment felt by ticket holders.

I’m truly gutted as I know how disappointing this will be for everyone with tickets, but obviously it’s a brand-new venue and it’s important that everything is finished and safe for full capacity audiences.

Co-op Live management issued a statement explaining the decision to reschedule, citing the need for additional testing and adherence to safety protocols.

Rescheduling gives us the extra time we need to continue testing thoroughly. This is vital to satisfy the rigorous set of guidelines and protocols that are necessary for a venue of this size.

Reaction from Fans

Many fans expressed frustration over the sudden change, rearranging travel and accommodation plans doesn’t exactly set these fans up for being empathetic.

WOW! Test event Saturday and 2 days later you decide to cancel at midday! Who will compensate my hotel and rail fare I no longer need!

Despite the setback, Co-op Live is poised to host US rock band The Black Keys with a reduced capacity event this weekend, offering a glimpse of what’s to come once the venue is fully operational.

Peter Kay’s performance was highly anticipated and you could read more about it HERE! It might be a bit disappointing to see it pushed back but we understand the need to prioritize safety.
