Comedy fans recognize The Comedy Store as one of the best spots for comedy in the Los Angeles scene. Comedy icons like Robin Williams, Paul Mooney, Jay Leno, Richard Pryor, Jim Carrey, and even Joe Rogan. But now, The Comedy Store is under fire as Eliot Preschutti, a comedian, claims he was assaulted by bouncers at The Comedy Store.

According to legal documents obtained by the media, Preschutti alleges he was detained and then assaulted by several bouncers for the Los Angeles-based comedy club after forgetting to close out his tab at the bar.

Account of the Incident

Preschutti visited the club to watch other comedians perform. When he left, he was confronted by bouncers who detained him, alleging he hadn’t closed his tab.

The lawsuit states that during the altercation, a bouncer threw Preschutti to the sidewalk, where multiple bouncers proceeded to hit and kick him. One of the bouncers reportedly shouted, “This is for Pauly!”

Previous Lawsuit

This isn’t the first time The Comedy Store has faced legal issues. Earlier, Sean Kehoe and Kirra Lyn Potts filed a lawsuit over an alleged 2022 assault, claiming Shore was aware of and encouraged the incident.

In the 17-page complaint, Kehoe and Potts claimed that Kehoe was “violently grabbed and attacked,” including being pulled, when they went to The Comedy Store’s Hollywood location in West Hollywood in November 2022 by The Comedy Store’s security.

According to the lawsuit, Kehoe suffered severe injuries both physically and mentally while Potts went through mental and emotional distress after seeing her father injured.

Current Lawsuit

Preschutti alleges that he has already paid for his tab outside of the club, while a bouncer claims that Preschutti attempted to attack a server. This is what was written on the suit,

While Plaintiff was face-down on the sidewalk, various bouncers for the Comedy Store began to hit and kick him for an appreciable amount of time, The bouncer that threw Plaintiff to the ground, while this beating was occurring, yelled ‘this is for Pauly!

According to Preschutti 5-7 bouncers joined in on the beating as well. The comedian is now suing the owner and the venue itself for assault, battery, and intentional inflection of emotional distress and negligence. He is now seeking a jury trial and compensation – for the suit itself, and other damages.

As of now Shore has yet to release any statements regarding this. To stay on-top of updates and for more comedy news and of course, absolutely hilarious stand-up comedy shows, then join in on the fun here at one of the comedy clubs in London, Big Belly Comedy Club
