Comedian Ivo Graham is launching his debut book, Yardsticks For Failure. It’s all about his funny struggles in the world of stand-up comedy. The book will hit shelves in September and promises a peek into the behind-the-scenes chaos of comedy.

Graham and The Publisher’s Thoughts

A young man sits thoughtfully in a rattan chair amidst fallen leaves, with trees in the background.

Graham, known for his appearances on Taskmaster, shared his thoughts:

As much as I enjoy being sent memes of myself in distress, usually clutching my head in a shed, it’s a huge privilege to be able to flesh out my catalogue of professional meltdowns in my own words. I haven’t made the best of all the privileges in my life, but I fully intend to make the best of this one.

The publisher, Yvonne Jacob, thinks it’s a book everyone can relate to:

Brilliantly draws on those aspirations we all have, both big and small, that are slipping away in the face our daily grind. It’s the book we all need to help us lean into our dreams, as well as our to do list, and find out a little bit more about ourselves along the way.

What’s Inside

Yardsticks For Failure dives deep into Graham’s past blunders and present-day chaos. It’s a mix of funny stories and deep thoughts about life. It’s even captioned as,

Yardsticks For Failure is a deep dive into the various facepalms of Ivo’s recent past, and a live diary of his unravelling present, where his solution to the general bedlam of his life has been to pile his plate higher than ever before.

The book gives us a look at Graham’s life in comedy, his friends, family, and struggles. It’s all about finding humour in life’s messiness.

What’s Next

Graham is getting ready for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where he’ll debut two new shows: Grand Designs and Carousel. He’s also taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon while pushing fellow comedian Rosie Jones in a buggy (Which you can read more about HERE!)

Yardsticks For Failure will be available in different formats on Amazon from September 24th. And if you think reading a book from comedians is great why not see them live in action at one of the best comedy clubs in London! Here at Big Belly we’ve got great comedy shows happening 7 nights a week so join in on the fun!
