Frank Skinner bids farewell to his 15-year stint on Absolute Radio as his contract with the station remains unrenewed. Speaking on his morning show, Skinner humorously likened his departure to a scene from Doctor Who, but expressed gratitude towards Absolute Radio for their support over the years.

End of an Era

Skinner revealed the news during his show, acknowledging the station’s decision while injecting his trademark humour into the situation. He announced,

Guess what?! Yeah, we didn’t! So we’re not just going now, I’m not going to say ‘bye’ and that’s the end, we’ve got some notice to serve, but um yeah… that’s it.

Despite the disappointment, Skinner reassured listeners that there are still a few more Saturday-morning shows left before his departure. He co-hosts the programme alongside Emily Dean and comedian Pierre Novellie, reflecting on their 15-year journey together.

Acknowledgement from Absolute Radio

Paul Sylvester, Absolute Radio’s content director, expressed gratitude for Skinner’s significant contribution to the station, describing his departure as “the end of an era.”

He acknowledged Skinner’s role in both Saturday mornings and charity comedy events, emphasizing the impact Skinner has had on the station’s history.

While details of Absolute Radio’s future summer schedule are yet to be revealed, listeners can still enjoy Skinner, Dean, and Novellie on Saturday mornings for the time being.
