Where to Find the Best Brunch in Islington

Ottolenghi

A man is standing in front of a wine store.

As you’re strolling along Islington’s streets looking for the best breakfast spot, you’ll spot a massive cake that that fills an entire window. Ottolenghi eatery is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and features a creative Mediterranean menu with flavors inspired by the Middle East. A variety of salads, pastries, and other treats are available for takeout or in-store consumption from the deli.

This is one of the top places to get decadent fruit tarts and cakes perfect for anyone who’s got a sweet tooth. We usually come here for Sunday brunch or for a quick takeaway of freshly made baked goods to bring with us to the theatre.

📍287 Upper St, London N1 2TZ, United Kingdom

The Breakfast Club

A group of people standing outside of a breakfast club.

The décor of the Breakfast Club is a blend of modern and vintage, with an 80s vibe which absolutely charmed us when we walked in. If you’re looking for hearty American brunch options then this cafe’s brunch menu would surely hit the spot!

Their menu includes American breakfast classics like burgers with scrambled eggs, and a bunch of other comfort food! It’s also super cool that their breakfast menu is actually available all-day since we sometimes have these cravings late in the afternoon.

📍31 Camden Psge, London N1 8EA, United Kingdom

Urban Social

Urban social is a trendy Islington brunch spot that offer a mean cup of local coffee like their flat whites. It’s also a super relaxing spot perfect to start your day in or to just lounge around and watch the bustling streets outside.

I highly recommend their truffle mushroom egg croissant and smoked salmon. My partner and I had just one taste of their savoury dishes and instantly knew that this would be one breakfast spot in Islington we would be coming back to time and time again.

📍236 Upper St, London N1 1RU, United Kingdom

Caravan King’s Cross

The inside of a restaurant with people sitting at tables.

Though this might be a bit away from Angel but it’s certainly one of the best spots in the city for a simple weekend brunch and very wroth the trip! I’m not the only one that thinks this though, since you’ll have to expect a fairly long queue when you get there.

Though we might have arrived a bit late (to avoid the line) we were still treated to freshly cooked baked eggs and poached eggs. While we were there, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring home a few pieces of sourdough to take home for the next time we feel a bit lazy to go out for brunch.

📍1 Granary Square, London N1C 4AA, United Kingdom

Boulangerie Bon Matin

Aside from handmade French toast, baguettes, and crêpes, Boulangerie Bon Matin is also home to a lot of vegan options! This cafe is an amazing Islington gem tucked away from the busy streets of the city. Their brunch menu offers breakfast plates that are perfectly complemented by their French baked goods.

Try out their shakshuka with a few pieces of sourdough toast, then you’ll find that passing by this joint is a great start to your day! We’ve been here a bunch of times now and their menu is consistently packed with flavour and delicious.

📍178 Tollington Park, Finsbury Park, London N4 3AJ, United Kingdom

The Skinny Kitchen

A group of people standing in a restaurant.

Islington’s best spot for events, hands down. They’ve got singers, DJs, a saxophone, and a few people dancing! We rented the place out for a birthday celebration and we were not disappointed, plus the owners were easy to work with and a lot of fun.

Live entertainment, quick service, and a bottomless brunch in Islington, this spot is a must-visit!

📍52 Upper St, London N1 0QH, United Kingdom

Bellanger

The outside of a restaurant with blue awnings.

What felt like a charming little slice of paris, Bellanger is the best place for a Mediterranean experience in Islington. They have a classic bistro look and a ‘well-travelled’ menu that includes specialty dishes from France and other parts of the Mediterranean.

They also recently refurbished, and though I personally prefer the original Bellanger, but I think that’s mostly because of nostalgia. It’s still the same restaurant with the same original staff, with a fresh coat of paint and a new menu!

📍9 Islington Grn, London N1 2XH, United Kingdom

Brother Marcus

Just like the last one, Brother Marcus specializes in Mediterranean cuisine that offer a Turkish brunch feast. A big plus, for me is that their food is actually very Instagrammable and is such visually appealing that you almost feel guilty if you shove a spoon in,

Looks aside, the food and drinks are amazing. We came for a boozy brunch and were delighted that the prosecco came in fast and quick. Lastly, it’s also super close to the Camden passage so you get a lot of accessibility to other attractions!

📍9 Islington Grn, London N1 2XH, United Kingdom

Angel Inn

A building with a sign that says angel inn.

Angel Inn feels like a classic pub with their blackboard menu and five cask ales, plus the occasional live music. They have a delicious Sunday Roast that I personally come back to time and time again.

The portions are also huge and are surprisingly reasonably priced considering the size. A big plus for me is that its also dog-friendly so we made a lot of cute friends on every visit!

📍420 St John St, London EC1V 4NJ, United Kingdom

Duncan Terrace Cafe

Lastly, there’s a cute little coffee shop in North Islington that I think everyone should visit. It’s a comfortable café away from the main road, that offer good comfort food . There coffee is one thing, but they really excel with their Full English breakfast options.

It’s lovely homecooked food that you could basically taste the love they put into every pancake and egg!

📍391 City Rd, London EC1V 1NE, United Kingdom
