The #SaveLiveComedy fund is designed to provide relief to professional individuals within the live comedy industry who are most in need, from performers to promoters, technicians to tour managers. Comedy is an important part of life – laughter helps to increase pain tolerance and reduce stress and its absence has been felt over the last year, with 1 in 3 people unable to recall a time in the last year when they’ve laughed out loud*. With your help, we’ll support as many comedy professionals as possible so they can return to work when gigs and show restart, ensuring that they can keep making you laugh.

It’s been over a year since the first shows were cancelled, with no indoor shows having happened at all in Scotland and Wales, indoor gigs restricted across the UK until mid-May at the earliest, and very few gigs and tours being financially viable with social distancing in place. It’s time for us to #SaveLiveComedy — by helping those who make live comedy happen!

The Fund is administered by NextUp Comedy in association with the Live Comedy Association.

The Fund has been given initial sponsorship by Panadol, its Founding Supporter.

The Fund targets those most in need in the industry, focussing on those who are self-employed, unemployed, or run an organisation that has been ineligible for any existing government support.

You can help us distribute even more funding across the industry by donating to the Fund’s Crowdfunder here. The more we raise, the more grants will be awarded!

* The research surveyed 2,000 people aged 18 and above during March 2021 and was conducted by One Poll
