Phil Wang, Ian Smith, and Stuart Laws to Record Specials

Three prominent comedians, Phil Wang, Ian Smith, and Stuart Laws, are set to record their latest stand-up shows for release. Tickets for the tapings of Smith and Laws’ shows are available here. Wang’s show goes on general sale on Friday.

Recording Details

Smith and Laws will tape their shows for indie comedy label 800 Pound Gorilla at the Pleasance in London on June 4. Meanwhile, Wang’s show, “Wang In There, Baby!”, will be recorded at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe on April 25.

Smith’s show, “Crushing,” earned a four-and-a-half-star review from Chortle at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe. He expressed his excitement, stating,

“I’m looking forward to performing a show about stress with the added pressure of it being recorded to go on the internet forever!”

Laws’ show, “Stuart Laws? Is That Guy Still Going?”, also received acclaim, earning a four-and-a-half-star review. He eagerly shared,

“I cannot wait to film this stupid show that kept making people cry and seeing if I can wield that power through cameras and onto memory cards.”

800 Pound Gorilla’s First Worldwide Comedy Month

Laura Rouxel, head of UK comedy for 800 Pound Gorilla, expressed enthusiasm about these 3 comics, saying,

“What a privilege to work with two of our favourite comics on the scene, we can’t wait for their specials to be out in the world for all to see.”

On top of that 800 Pound Gorilla is also working to establish the very first worldwide annual comedy month! It is a month-long line-up of specialized programming on all thing comedy from all around the world!

You’ve got stand-up specials, scripted projects, and so much more. Notable comedians to be presented are, Kyle Kinane, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Mo Welch, Modi, Ivo Graham, and Monty Franklin are among the comics who will be highlighted throughout the month.
