Renowned comedian and bestselling author David Walliams gears up for his first-ever live comedy tour, kicking off in Australia and New Zealand this September and October.

An Evening with David Walliams

His new tour is being described as: ‘an outrageously cheeky evening’ as well as being ‘a little bit naughty’ while promoters say that audiences should expect a lot of funny stories, characters, and a glimpse at the “real” David Walliams, with of course his signature wit and charisma.

As David Walliams puts it,

Audiences down under are the best. Matt [Lucas] and I had the greatest time touring Little Britain in Australia, and so I am delighted to be back on the stage here… I have never done a show like this before, which makes it all the more exciting. I promise there will be lots of laughs, stories I have never told before and a chance for you to ask me anything you want. I will be expecting some rude questions! And I can’t wait to see you all there.

Walliams’ Diverse Career

Famously, David Walliams and Matt Lucas co-created the comic series “Little Britain.” With three BAFTAs under his belt, David Walliams is seen by millions of people worldwide. His best-selling books, which appeal to readers of all ages, are “The Boy in the Dress” and “Gangsta Granny.”

Those books have reportedly sold over 56 million copies worldwide and also include charitable publications such as ‘The Blob’ and ‘The Queen’s Orang-utan’.

That’s not all, Walliams also partnered with Alton Towers for a themed attraction called ‘The World of David Walliams’ which include rides, attractions, and more based out of Williams’ characters in his books.

Controversy

A man in a suit appears pensive as he listens on his phone, seated at a table with others in attendance at an event.

He is also most notably known for being a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and Australia’s Got Talent but later left the industry in 2022 after he made sexist comments about contestants off-camera which were leaked and then published by the press.

Walliams did apologize for his comments saying,

I would like to apologise to the people I made disrespectful comments about during breaks in filming for Britain’s Got Talent in 2020… These were private conversations and – like most conversations with friends – were never intended to be shared. Nevertheless, I am sorry.

Even veteran judge Simon Cowell, condoned Walliams’ comments and said that the ‘Got Talent’ is a family show and does not approve of the use of such harsh language.
