Here are the list of comedians who clinched various awards at the BBC Audio Awards!
Best Sitcom or Comedy Drama Title
Where To, Mate?, a Radio 4 production following taxi drivers Ben and Bernie as they navigate through North West England, secured the award for best sitcom or comedy drama.
Devised by a talented ensemble of Jo Enright, Peter Slater, Abdullah Afzal, Nina Gilligan, Andy Salthouse, Keith Carter, Jason Wingard and produced by Carl Cooper, the show offers a hilarious taxi ride as the drivers eavesdrop on their passengers while driving around England.
Other nominees include Call Jonathan Pie an adaptation of Oliver Goldsmith’s comedy, ‘She Stoops to Conquer’ adapted by Tom Walker and Barunka O’Shaugnessy, The C-Bomb by Janey Godley, and OK Computer by Olga Koch.
Lifetime Achievement Award
Graeme Garden, celebrated for his enduring presence on I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue and his contributions to British comedy, was honoured with the lifetime achievement award.
Reflecting on his illustrious career, Garden’s impact spans decades and includes memorable contributions to comedy panel shows and quiz programmes.
Garden has been a panelist since the very first episode in 1972 of ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, has been a member of sketch show ‘I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again’, co-created a quiz show called ‘The Unbelievable Truth’, and created the spin-off of ‘Have you had Your tea’.
Supporting Performance
In the drama category, Mark Heap, known for his role in Friday Night Dinner, was awarded best supporting performance for his role a Radio 3 adaptation of Alan Bennett’s comic play.
