The Comedy Revolution

In 2013, Bridget Christie made waves by clinching the prestigious Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show with her remarkable performance, “A BIC FOR HER.” The accolades kept pouring in, including the 2014 South Bank Sky Arts Award for Best Comedy and the 2014 Chortle Award for Best Show. Her trailblazing approach paved the way for future female comics.

An Inspiration to Others

Hannah Gadsby, renowned for “Nanette,” acknowledged Christie’s pivotal role in reshaping the comedy landscape. In an interview, Gadsby remarked, “A Bic for Her was a huge moment in Edinburgh Fringe history particularly for a female comic. Before Bridget Christie, a show like Nanette would just have been lost.”

The Decade’s Top Comedy

Christie’s impact was further solidified when “A Bic for Her” was named one of The Times comedy shows of the decade. Times critic Dominic Maxwell highlighted the significance of Christie’s work, stating, “Unless you spent years watching shows where rape and violence were lazy add-on gags, you’ll never know the relief of seeing Christie in 2013.”

Award-Winning Tour

Her 2014 tour, featuring “A Bic for Her” and “An Ungrateful Woman,” earned her the prestigious 2015 Chortle Award for Best Tour. She was also nominated for a British Comedy Award for Best Female TV comic for her outstanding performance on “Have I Got News For You.”

Additionally, her debut live stand-up special, “Stand Up for Her,” was streamed globally on Netflix, marking her as the first British female comedian with a Netflix stand-up special.

Christie’s talents transcended the stage and screen. Her debut BBC Radio 4 series, “BRIDGET CHRISTIE MINDS THE GAP,” garnered Best Radio honors at the 2014 Chortle Awards and the prestigious 2014 Rose D’Or International Broadcasting Award for Best Radio Comedy. Her literary prowess shone with the release of her debut book, “A BOOK FOR HER,” which received widespread critical acclaim and a spot on The Telegraph’s Top 100 Books for Christmas list.
