This year’s Victorious Festival promises a laugh-filled weekend with a stellar comedy lineup announced for the event on August 23, 24, and 25 at Southsea Common.
Headliners Unveiled
The Victorious festival is one of the most anticipated events of the summer and for a reason! Because they’ve got a truly star-studded line-up headlining.
Straight off the back out of his critically acclaimed UK and EU tour, they’ve got television presenter and comedian Russell Howard! You might know his comedic mix of positivity and laughter from his 10 series show, ‘Russell Howard, Good News’. Tickets for his tour could be found HERE!
According to organizers, former ‘Mock the Week’ panelist, Frankie Boyle would deliver, a performance that will “push the boundaries of humour while casting a light on societal issues with a confrontational full-frontal delivery”.
Boyle took a break from the stand-up scene but this time he’s back and it seems that celebrities, politicians, and society itself would be his ammo for shock and laughter!
The Pub Landlord, Al Murray himself is set to make an appearance. Two decades of his alter persona would be on full display during the festival. He is set to offer what some people call as “classic British humour”.
Supporting Acts
Russell Howard won’t be alone during opening day because he’ll be joined by BBC Radio 4 star Suzi Ruffell, just after her most recent ‘Dance Like Everyone’s Watching Tour’, which won the award for Best Stand Up Show at the National Comedy Awards.
One of the most popular comedians right now, Emmanuel Sonubi is also set to take part as a compere for Friday and Saturday’s comedy events. He is currently on tour, and tickets are selling FAST, check those out HERE!
Writer and Filipina touring comedian, Ria Lina is also scheduled to make an appearance for the event. With appearances in Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, The Now Show, writer for sketch shows and tour, and 5-time Edinburgh Fringe presenter, Lina is ready to make the people of Portmouth laugh!
Comedy And Cabaret Tent
Wightlink is sponsoring the comedy and cabaret tent this year, and they have brought with them a spectacular line-up of comedians. You have Eastenders star, Shaun Williamson to make a festival debut. Organizers say that audiences should expect a lot of audience participation and even karaoke!
Other highlights on the festival’s bill include Emmy Award-winning comedian Fiona Allen, Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Abi Carter-Simpson, and Paul McCaffrey from Live At The Apollo. Also featured are performances by Brandon Palmer, Michael Frankland, Saaniya Abbas, Perry Reilly, Radu Issac, and Andy Field.
Additionally, festival-goers can look forward to entertainment from the Southsea Alternative Choir, Bog Rolling Stones, Bloody Grungers, House of Anthems, Beatles for Sale, The South Side Racketeers, HYPR, Rewind, and Bingo Bango in the comedy and cabaret tent.
